Pitfalls of Affiliate Marketing

Pitfalls of Affiliate Marketing

It’s easy to find the benefits of affiliate marketing but in this post, I would like to be transparent and point out the pitfalls of affiliate marketing.

Have you often wondered why 90% quit in the first few months? If you stick around and read this post in its entirety I am pretty sure you may get a few light bulb moments  😉

I have been involved in affiliate marketing for many years and there are so many advantages which I am sure you are probably aware of. However, not too many people share the pitfalls of affiliate marketing and if you are just starting out in the industry it is import to be aware of them

Almost anybody can get started in this industry if they can copy and paste, share a few links which appear to be positive right? Sorry to say it’s NOT that is the number one reason that 95% of affiliate marketers fail in this industry and don’t make one red cent.

The facts are they are led to believe that it’s easy and it is NOT. When something is FREE people don’t place any value on it, they don’t take it serious enough.

I know this may sound a little extreme but If people had to pay companies to become an affiliate that would completely change the industry. Companies would really struggle to get affiliates. In fact, if we were to turn back the clock that was the case. If you wanted to become an affiliate for a company they would have to qualify and have certain skills set in order to get excepted.

In most cases they would have to have a website, agree not to direct link or spam, have good knowledge of how to create paid traffic. Have a full understanding of how to create leads and sales using social media pus SEO skills.  To be able to create squeeze pages know about Auto- Responders, copywriting, graphic design keyword research, the list is endless.

Moving forward to here in 2020 companies are quite happy to get as many affiliates as possible without having the above qualifications.

Pitfalls of Affiliate Marketing

So why has this changed over the years?

The answer is quite simple from the companies point of view. Once they have created the affiliate program which is now very easy to do with modern technology using the software available today It’s true they have to take care of things like creating the product, delivery, returns, customer service etc…

But they have to do that anyway without the advantage of affiliates plus the fact that most of the products are digital. Which can be delivered by email or membership websites makes life very easy for them. They can set it and forget it.

For the company this is awesome they don’t have the ongoing advertising costs which today are quite extensive which leads to more profit for the company.

Don’t get me wrong I am not suggesting the above statement should happen. However, if the affiliates approached it with that mindset they would enjoy a lot more success and take it much more seriously.

The facts are although companies have become more lenient and made it easy for affiliates to join this is where the rubber hits the road. If you are serious about creating an online income as an affiliate all the above you do need these skills in order to succeed.

For example, if you don’t have a website that you are in complete control of that is like having a car with no engine. Most affiliates sweep this under the carpet and think it is too complicated but that is NOT the case. I can show where you can have a website up and running in 5 minutes or less and it won’t cost you a penny ever. I have created a video for you to prove a point below.

Even though you have a website there are still pitfalls to look out for. Companies do discontinue their products as we are in an ever-changing world. Digital products become out-of-date and useless, For example, there has been a ton of Facebook advertising courses that are now obsolete why?

Facebook has changed its algorithms if you have chosen to promote that product on your website the links will be broken. Warning Google doesn’t like broken links they will punish your search engine rankings. The way to avoid this is by choosing the right affiliate programs to promote.

We need to look at evergreen products to promote that will always be there for many years to come. If you want to focus on what affiliate products to promote then invest is an affiliate marketing training course.

The most popular place to look for affiliate products to promote is Clickbank.com they are a well-established company that has been established for years. But to find the right affiliate programs to promote if you are just starting out is a minefield.

So if you are serious about creating a substantial income online with affiliate marketing then Clickbank have created there very own affiliate marketing training course by Justin Atlan and Adam Horwitz and team.

These guys really know their stuff and controversially are the most successful affiliate marketers online. If you look at their track record to how they got started they knew very little about affiliate marketing let alone the pitfalls of affiliate marketing.

They had no special skills and just a couple of guys at university short on funds to buy the extra things we all need. They call it the Clickbank University which is well named as it is a very intense course designed for serious people who are hungry for success online.

This course is designed for people prepared to invest in this course and take action which is what is required in this industry. However, you will not just be trained by Justin and Adam but the rest of the Clickbank team. The amount of testimonials of people that have gone through this course is endless over the years.

However, it’s not all positive like always there are flip sides to the coin. If you are not prepared to invest time, effort and money to learn the skills they share in this course then don’t waste your time.

Like anything else in order to be successful at anything you have to work at it, this is where most people fail they are looking for overnight success then I suggest you don’t enter into the world of affiliate marketing go get a job at Mcdonalds.

Although this is an awesome course and I am talking from my personal experience it does not cover everything and it pretty expensive if you are short on funds. But having said that if you were to compare it with any university course then it’s NOT.

As always there are other options which won’t break the bank, in fact, to get started it’s FREE which might be more suitable if you are just starting out. These guys have been established for more than 14 years and counting. What they don’t know about the pitfalls of affiliate marketing is not worth worrying about.

One of the main pitfalls of affiliate marketing be patient it does take time and a lot of hard work contrary to what you may have been led to believe. All I can say it is well worth the effort and to enjoy the journey

When we weigh up the pros and cons the pros outweigh to cons by far. Thanks for taking the time to read this post look forward to any questions or comments in the section below.

See you at the top.
